A New Chapter

Every day is a fashion show and the world is your runway— Coco Chanel

post

Greetings. As I am typing this, it is exactly 3 in the morning where I decided that I wanted my own domain, even if it means having to pay for it. The idea came to me from watching The Social Network on Netflix as I watched it alongside my man, albeit virtually, due to the Restriction Movement Order (RMO) that has commenced over the past two weeks.

With the pandemic, I have come to realize that nothing in life is ever certain and that in a blink of an eye, anything and everything can change. It never occurred to me that the daily routine that I have been accustomed with has changed drastically and that I am now technically working from home – which I find is a luxury and a privilege compared to my peers. Regardless of the restrictions, I have opt to see the good in this trying times, one being having the time to finally get started with things which I have long put on hold, such as getting back into writing.

I believe the questions people would ask me as to why I purchased a domain will be, “How are you certain that you will have readers?” or “Are you going to earn from this?”, to which I will answer, “No.“. The reason being is that I want something personal and having my own domain will make it more exclusive, that is all there is to it! Having readers do not concern me as much now as it used to in the past as I recall that a lot of people started to go on Blogger, WordPress and all sorts of platform in hopes of making a living out of being a social media influencer, etc. Personally, I am quite content with my life at the moment and if ever in the near future I were to be given the chance to make a side income via this platform, I will not pass it up – although I doubt I will get to that level. I am merely a normal, 20-something that writes merely for her own entertainment and satisfaction, at most.

Considering how the RMO has been extended to another 2 weeks, I suppose I will be writing more, in hopes of making sure my brain will still be able to function properly after being in partial lock-down with minimal socialization and interaction with the outside world. A human being can only watch so much Netflix and Youtube without starting to contemplate on their purpose in life. And so, with this new space, I will be able to pen down my personal thoughts and have something decent to look back at in the near future.

I decided not to make my first post lengthy as it is just an introduction and partly a sneak peek to this venture of mine. I would not call it a new venture because as mentioned, I had a blog prior which I thought of continuing but looking back, I much rather start on a clean slate and close that old book. Aside from that, I also have issues with deleting and/or archiving old posts, even if they are far from excellent.

As such, I will be signing off until next time. Here’s to a new chapter and I hope this pandemic will end very soon so that we all can resume our daily activities per usual.

xo, Intan
